O-Sato is a young townswoman who runs a small tea house in Edo with a quirky cat named Nyanmage.

After a thunderstorm clears, she is serving tea to her friend, the carpenter Heikichi, when a samurai passes by the shop. He bears a striking resemblance to her former boyfriend, Shinzaemon, to whom she had once promised marriage. Yet, upon speaking, he seems like a completely different person.
