Let's experience Japanese traditional New Year's events that are rarely seen in modern times.
(1)Sake for hospitality to celebrate the New Year (Next to Fukutoku-Ya, 9:00~)
Free distribution of sacred sake to visitors.
Hot Amazake (fermented non-alcoholic rice drink) is also available.

(2)First Writing of the year (Next to Nanamangoku, Open all day)
Calligraphy tools such as ink and brush are prepared in the room.
Feel free to write new Year's resolutions and show them on the bulletin board.
(3)Tousenkyou (At Shirahagi Hall, Open all day)
An Japanese traditional game in which throw a folding fan aiming the target on the table and compete for scores.
(4)Traditional New Year's play (Around Shirahagi Hall, Open all day)
You can experience various games played in New Year in Japan.
・Paper kite flying
・Hanetsuki(Japanese traditional badminton)
・Spinning top
・etc.
(5)Shishimai:Performance of the guardian lion mask (Walk around the facility)
This guardian lion is a very auspicious imaginary being.
You can get rid of bad luck by having guardian lion bite your head.

Treasure Hunting Game ”Ninpocho”
Discover the treasure hidden in the park by solving some puzzles, then you will win a prize!
There are 3 courses of different difficulty levels.
*All puzzles are written in Japanese.
- beginner: Treasure Hunting Stamp Rally ”Nyanmage Ninpocho”
Let’s look for the treasure by collecting stamps on an illustration map with some hints written in Hiragana.
-Required time/ approx.30min. (There are individual differences.)
-No age limit but it requires ability to understand Hiragana.
- medium: Puzzle Solving & Treasure Hunting “Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura Ninpocho”
You should complete some missions written in Makimono scroll (Ninja’s command book) and find the treasure box. That requires you to be proficient in Japanese.
-Required time/ approx.60min. (There are individual differences.)
-No age limit but we recommend it for upper elementary grades and older.
- advanced: Challenging the Super Difficult Puzzle ”Black Code; the special edition of Ninpocho”
Only first 25 applicants can challenge it on each day. It requires not only Japanese skill but also a high level of problem solving ability.
-Required time/ approx.150min. (There are individual differences.)
-Limited for adults (middle school and older)

“Tanabata” is Japanese traditional star festival held on 7th July.
It is said that your dream will come true by writing it on a strip of paper and hang it on sacred bamboo display.

Exhibition of the Hina dolls (dolls of the Girl's Festival)
March 3rd is "Hina-Matsuri"(Girls Festival) in Japan.
It's a Japanese tradition that display the dolls which are called "Ohinasama"to pray for the health and happiness of young girls.
How about taking a commemorative photo against the background of a gorgeous Ohinasama decoration which displayed by villagers with all their heart?

Nyanmage will be giving out the lucky beans
In Japan, we have a tradition of throwing "Fuku Mame"(lucky beans) for getting rid of bad luck and welcoming good luck on the day called "Setsubun" of February 3rd.
Nyanmage, the mascot of Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura which is called "a cat carrying happiness", will distribute lucky beans to customers who have met inside the village.
If you will have a opportunity to take a picture together with Nyanmage, you may be able to get more good luck!?
